Hi, I am Barbara and live in Lincolnshire. I love nothing better than walking with my 3 dogs, (Large Munsterlanders) and taking the camera along. Iam afraid my photographic skills are not very good, I just point and click & hope for the best. Sometimes I do take some nice shots!!
I have lived with this breed since 1986, before that I had border collies. I was told when getting my first Munster, Jenna, I would become addicted and I sure was, owning 7 of this breed over the years.
Although Munsters are a working gundog, afraid I couldn't shoot anything, so we do other things like, showing, obedience and heelwork to music.
The girls are all different & I hope to show that in their pictures.
I would like to thank my good friend Janeeden for persuading me to get started.
Video's & songs for the girls can be seen on www.jendellas.com

I am very interested to see these dogs that you described to me the other day when you saw them at the show. Yes I agree they certainly do look like a basset hound cross beagle to me also. Because fox hunting is not approved legally now in this country I am thinking that they are breeding these dogs for a completely different activity, but still maintaining their hunting and scenting skills. I understand in some cases humans are used as their quarry for them to hunt, purely as a fun activity I might add and not at all dark in any way. It is a wonderful fun activity for the dogs to use and fulfil their natural instincts lol. hugs and love xxxxxxxxxxxx

Great capture

Great capture of these interesting dogs, I'm in Devon where there are hunts too, these dogs are clearly more beagle than basset hound although the ears are different, You are right in as much as these dogs merely serve a purpose of which once this ceases to be they will then be expired. I'm all for countryside traditions but some hunts are still hunting foxes with hounds and hiding it under the guise of drag hunting. I'm dead against cruelty to animals in the name of human entertainment which is wrongly justified as "Sport" culling species population. Also don't get me started on Stag Hunting, I know populations have to be kept in check but there are humane methods to do this and not so some rich toff can have it mounted and put up on the wall amongst the Stubbs and Rembrandts. I suspect there is a devious reason for this cross breeding and the dogs are the pawns in this pro v anti.

Whatever they are, I bet they are a handful to take care off. Labor of love there. So adorable.

They do look more like beagles to me. I don't like hearing of their fate when they are no longer useful.

They do look long bodied for beagles. We had both, a beagle and a basset, and neither looked like these.

I agree, they look like a basset/beagle cross. I hate that they are bred, used, then discarded. We have that kind of thing here with racing dogs, though that has improved greatly because of the positive action of Greyhound Rescue groups being very active. Fighting Dogs, though illegal, are the ones that seem to be getting greatly abused and mis-used also. Sigh .. then there are the puppy mills where dogs are just bred and bred and bred until they are no longer able to breed because their health has so suffered from lack of proper care and food and just plain abuse .. sigh I better stop and shut up now. Anyway, they are beautiful dogs, and I wish each of them would find a forever home of their own.
