Description
Studying all kinds of chessmen, I noticed two kinds where often returning: long ones with spheres, and the more classical ones in shapes of sweep profiles (as those used in competitions). I created my own form with a sphere at the base, which looks a bit funny to me. My chessmen are very recognisable (and so they can be used in games, unlike some all too stylised ones). Difficulty in 3D is always the knight, for which I sculptured a horse in Zbrush, and I'm very satisfied with the result (and exported it to Bryce). A lot chess horses look extremely terrified, I wanted a horse with a smile. I forgot the crest and made it by 2D drawing as a base for a Bryce lattice. Rendered in Bryce with little afterwork.

Very nice chess set and yes they are very identifiable. You are right. Some are just way too stylized for my taste. Cool staging and some nice subtle lighting fx. Gooooood job!
