...You look like you've seen a ghost and you're shivering like a leaf!"
(Note: this was supposed to be done by Memorial Day, but I ended up taking much longer than I planned getting the 'special effects' right.

I am glad you waited. This is superb! Getting the effects right was worth the wait. Looking at it (in the full-image view) I am wondering: Is there a specific name on the wall that 'grandpa' is focused on?

Yep... a friendly ghost from long ago... KIA in August 1969. I have several friends & comrades on that wall... so while this type of image has been done before, this particular one is a bit more personal for me. Oh, and I was a squid, not a Marine. Aircrew. The base we operated from was a small one that we shared (on the other side of the base) with the Air Force. We had a company of Marines for security, and I knew most of them well. Given what we were doing, we pretty much kept to ourselves on our side of the runways. The Air Force folks didn't want to be 'contaminated' by our little MACSOG group. Which was fine with us, since we were 'sheep dipped' and, uh, not really in the military. We had to be 'deniable', so military spit-n-polish, etc, were NOT enforced. We didn't carry ID, wear dog tags and no one wore a uniform... if you get the picture... as a consequence, the Marines & Navy just 'circled the wagons' to keep the Air Police and other folks away from us. Since there weren't that many of us, everyone took their turn going on patrols, standing watches, etc. So we all knew each other at least a little bit. And unlike most squids--and particularly airdale squids--I spent some of my time in the mud with a weapon in my hands.

I know that for most who have spent time in the military, especially during action, that those times stick in your mind and memories for life. The camaraderie, the good times & bad, all work together deeply in your mind. I respect and honor the duty you served, the sacrifices you made, the hardships you endured. And of course most especially for those warriors who gave even more of their bodies and their lives. I was fortunate. The draft ended a year before I graduated high school. (p.s. I am viewing other images in your gallery. You have a superb skill with DAZ|Studio, and you do creative, interesting, & Beautiful work! I have only barely tinkered with DAZ|Studio and have not kept up with it, and can't quite get the grasp of it. Maybe I'll give it another go one of these days.)

Artistically Brilliant This brings tears to my eyes. As an ol Army Vet, I thank you.

Thank you very much. This is somewhat of a departure from my normal thing... They say art should elicit emotion. I think I accomplished that here.

Love this, really stands out! Who is the ghost? A friend? Himself? A child? In either case, thumbs up!

A comrade in arms... And thanks!

As you can tell from my avatar, the military is somewhat close to my heart. My dad was a B-17 pilot/POW in WWII. I always appreciate any recognition or rememberence to those who served and sacrificed. I have always felt the Vietnam Memorial was an incredible piece of art. So simple. Thanks for reminding all of us of things that should not be forgotten.

'The Wall' is both simple, and so very powerful. And that particular panel has five names that were friends/comrades. So for me, it's very personal, as well.
