Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

How lovely to see Peter with Rosie.

This is a superb portrait and I love his 'smile lines'.

What wonderful shots, many postmen I know are uneasy about dogs, I guess a good percentage get bitten at some stage of their job and I'm not sure why some dogs take such a disliking to them... must be the uniform.. a brave job. This chap looks like a great character who could tell some great stories about his life.

I'm glad he can enjoy Rosie now that he's retired and doesn't have to worry about dogs any more. Lovely pictures, all!

What a charming gentleman. Outstanding pics. My favorite is the sepia. When I was a real estate appraiser and would work on foot I learned a trick from the older appraisers. Carry dog biscuits in your pocket. It keeps the dogs occupied.

What a nice portrait of this nice man; my dad never liked cats for his whole life, but now he's the main human for two of ours, and he's absolutely devoted to them. Go figure, eh?

He looks like quite the character and I bet he does have some very interesting tales of his rounds Great photo

Great character study photo!

Or, as Bette Davis once said in one of her movies, Peetah, Peetah, Peetah! Cool portrait of the ex mailman, Andrea. Of course, having once been a mailman myself, I can understand his adversity to the territorial species, called dog.

Bless his heart, what a sweet shot, he looks like a happy gentleman. :)

Such a great 'speaking' portrait, Andrea. That purple shirt fits him so well. I can imagine postmen don't like dogs, huh?

Peter's photo is of a very happy man but in the photo with Rosie - Peter still looks a bit concerned about Rosie being so close! I do like both photos - sepia too!
