Description
A short walk from the Hraunfossar Waterfalls is Barnafoss or Children’s Waterfall. The story tells of a Christmas day when the household at Hraunsas went to mass and left two small children at home. When the family returned, the children were gone but their tracks led to the river. The children had fallen off a natural stone arch spanning the river and drowned. The mother, in her grief, had the arch destroyed.
