Description

Dont zoom, you might get a hurting sting :) We had visit by this very kind gentleman. He is a Bee keeper. He came and removed these three large Wasp nests we had in a shed near my "hen house". (NO, we have no hens, nor have we had any... only one of rubber and you see that on my avatar, lol.) Now we can finally clean up in there. The man got a few books from the shed. And we invited his wife to come and get some books, as she is a big reader, he said and we are happy to get rid of them, as most of them are old and we have read them long time ago more than once. He will be back :) And of course we payed the bill with pleasure. Have a beautiful day/evening. We have warm weather again and so it will be the next 5 days. PHEEW ! Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Amazing to have three nests, wasps can be unpredictable and sting without impunity, I hate them but understand their part in the chain, I know they also feed on certain garden critters. I have observed them in the past after hearing a kind of scratching noise where they are endlessly stinging the dry garden wooden trellis. Fascinating shots as the nests are almost sculptural, I believe it's paper. Obviously you needed to gain access to the shed and with that number they pose a serious threat with such large numbers but usually at the end they leave the nest and never return again. I find them devious and sneaky.

Good grief Helle, those are some of the biggest wasps nests I've ever seen. What ever he charges it certainly would be worth it.

Holy cow! Those are huge! The only ones I've seen are MAYBE two or three inches long at the most. Glad you can get into your hen house again! :)

Great series of shots. I've never seen those green things on a bee suit before. The black areas in them look like openings to let the bees and wasps in! haha Probably not, because that would be a serious design flaw! :)

So many wasps I also do not want to have in my neighborhood. It's better to remove them. Excellent and interesting shots of this action.

Great shots and so glad no one was harmed. They look very dangerous! I got stung but good just yesterday. But they were "ordinary" wasps. I've always heard that the ones who build nests like your can be very angry and attack with vengeance. Glad you got rid of them.

Yellowjackets! Oh how nice! Well...um...they never sting me, but I don't know about European Yellowjackets (probably from Germany, and if that's the case, then they're repeat stingers, and they mark you with a scent that tells other yellowjackets where to sting.) Needless to say, it's probably good to move these colonies elsewhere. In the USA, our yellowjackets don't use curtains to cover their nests, they just build the honeycomb shapes right out in the open, under something, like a table where you'd sit regularly. I'm glad no one was harmed, and these are fantastic shots. Those colonies look big, which means they're old, which also means they're probably constantly reused and get room additions each year! These are impressive.
