I agree. Sorry I made so many deleted comments, but for some reason the link I wanted to make to my flickr pics just will not work!

fantastic action-shot

That's one of the best explanations for a tree ganger or surgeon I have ever seen mate, they do a great job that is invariably taken for granted, it's cool, it's heroic, and it's bloody dangerous. Great shot of this ganger, wasn't those storms violent? We had a house here in England the roof got hit, and burned up the house, luckily the folks got out in time. AND those storms didn't do what they usually do, and cool things down a little, it's still unbearably hot here in London

Great shot & I agree with your comments about the special skills & courage it takes to do this job. We have lots of trees (many over 40 feet tall) on our property & every couple of years or so, we hire someone to cut or prune some of them to keep them healthy & to keep ourselves safe from fire. His climbing skills & abilities with a chain saw are pretty amazing & he's also an arborist, so he's very knowledgeable about the biology of trees. And a nice guy who charges a fair price to boot. The only problem is booking time with him, as he's very much in demand around here...

A brilliant 'action' shot Steve.

Always sorry to see a tree come down but this is an excellent shot.

We've had a lot of tree-felling in the neighborhood recently, so this has been a common sight; many of the ones that have come down were the really tall Douglas firs, 100-300 ft high. These guys are amazing to watch! Well captured!
