Description
Though most people use the terms "bison" & "buffalo" interchangeably, they are technically different. The animals that are found in North America are American Bison (so yes, he should have been known as Bison Bill - but then the Beatles probably never would have written "Bungalow Bill") & the only other living bison species is the European Bison, which is found mainly in Poland. There are two main buffalo species & they are found in Africa & Asia. This photo of two bison herds (or is it one temporarily separated by a small stream?) was taken in northeastern Yellowstone in an area called the Lamar Valley...
