Description

Remember. In 1987 I traveled to Bali on vacation. Bali is a paradise. I used the Lonely Planet Guide to Bali and Lombok to plan my trip. Two days ago I saw that book again. It was lying in a field in Eastern Ukraine. Someone else had planned a trip to Bali. I am sure they would have loved it. In 1982 I spent three days in Amsterdam. I liked Amsterdam and the Dutch. The people I met were friendly and patient with me. The food was good and the canals were enchanting. In 1994 my best friend died of AIDS related illness. I miss him to this day. Two days ago 298 people, 189 of them Dutch, boarded a plane at Schiphol Airport bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Also aboard were some of the leading scientists in AIDS research headed to a conference in Melbourne. They never made it. All of their hopes and dreams were burned to ashes because a person or persons could not be bothered to identify the plane before destroying it. There is no excuse. There is only the realization that in 10,000 years of human history, despite all the carnage and suffering, we still haven't learned a damn thing. My sorrow will pass but my anger will last a long time. My thoughts and prayers are with those who died and their families. I only hope that no one in our Rendo community lost a loved one. Remember.

Couldn't have said it better. Tragedy. Ignorant foolishness. There is so much of it out and about these days. Well done Mark.

My sentiments too Mark. I think the Russians have destroyed what evidence there might have been and using the rebels to keep investigators out thereby shifting any blame.

I think the Russians have destroyed what evidence there might have been and using the rebels to keep investigators out thereby shifting any blame. are you wrelie thinking that? giving the rusians the blame? 1980s: U.S. trains Osama bin Laden and fellow terrorists to kill Soviets. CIA gives them $3 billion. 1981: Reagan administration trains and funds the Contras. 30,000 Nicaraguans die. 1982: U.S. provides billions of dollars in aid to Saddam Hussein for weapons to kill Iranians. 1983: The White House secretly gives Iran weapons to kill Iraqis. and duth seller van anraat troe switserland sels chemicals to sadam hoesein to kil and gas many peaple, 1989: CIA agent Manuel Noriega (also serving as President of Panama) disobeys orders from Washington. U.S. invades Panama and removes Noriega. 3,000 Panamanian civilian casualties. 1990: Iraq invades Kuwait with weapons from U.S. 1991: U.S. enters Iraq. Bush reinstates dictator of Kuwait. 1998: Clinton bombs possible weapons factory in Sudan. Factory turns out to be making aspirin. 1991 to present:2001 American planes bomb Iraq on a weekly basis. U.N. estimates 500,000 Iraqi children die from bombing and sanctions. 2000-2001: U.S. gives Taliban-ruled Afghanistan $245 million in aid. Sept. 11, 2001: Osama bin Laden uses his expert? CIA training to murder 3,000 people,,, also in us terms collateral damage and what doe we do jes we kill more than 1 miljen iraqi peaple, that had nothing to do whit the thing happend in the usa, and stil we dont lurn nothing, the usa and his western liberal thingking asbleeps are just the same the netherlands/dutch parties lay about the iraqi just like bush and his bleepholes just like blair just like the navo, and stil thay are walking around, when doe we give them 3 minutes to say goodbay? we sell chemicals toe saddam and now to syria and israel and still we dont do nothing. nooo we give others the blame doeing the same thing as the duch and the uk and france germany and that usa remember the cuba crisis, the rockets close to the usa, whell the navo usa etz are doeing just that in those eastern country's ,,the missel shield thai call it, and this plane crash is the resold of this, fucking game the navo and the usa is plaing.nothing more, so dont point to others when jou just doeing the same.lething the reel criminals like bush like blair like rasmussen and many party members in my country the netherlands, live

"And we are here as on a darkling plain Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight Where ignorant armies clash by night" The world has seemed very much like the last 3 lines of Matthew Arnold's 'Dover Beach' lately. Children shot down from the sky, bombed in their playgrounds, kidnapped from their schools. Ignorant armies causing pain and death. Nation states unable or unwilling to do anything about it. It is not just children and it is not just lately. Spin the ages and point at any moment when there were humans; it would be the same. Somewhere on Planet Earth there would be humans killing humans. Life would be cheap; disposable to a careless act. Most of the time I would say that mankind has improved, albeit sluggishly, in fits and starts, with egregious backsliding now and then. I still believe it to be true, but I haven't felt it to be true lately. This is a beautiful tribute. Very well said,
