Description

Okay, Helle! This is the Columbia River in Washington State, and that water is probably around 17C. Go ahead and put your feet in, but don't go swimming or you'll cool off a lot more than you ever wanted to! LOL! I hope the cold water and the snow in the mountains gives you a little relief from the hot weather there. Full view ought to do it. :)

Such a wide river, and I love the way it fits so easily in its surroundings! Rivers are so good at that, you know! I love the cool colors: so many shades of blue, so many lively greens. Full view shows even more. Yeah. This is a perfect, cooling-off dedication; Chicago had a hot flash today, but I think it's over. Who knows, maybe posting this image is what did it.

This is one HUGE river; I love this shot since it shows a very different view than I saw in Astoria. The mountains in the background it even more beauty.

19C is about what the sea is here at the moment I suppose, although I haven't had time to use the beachhut and the weather is too hot for me to be in the sun. Getting older is not for wimps! But I'm told the sea is heaving with folk cooling off! I used to be in there all the year round years ago.

A very relaxing view of an area I'm very familiar with, though I'm usually on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. We've had very hot weather for a couple of weeks straight here - temperatures right around 100 degrees - but yesterday clouds appeared & in the afternoon we had a torrential downpour accompanied by booming thunder & lightning. It felt really good!

When I was much younger and living in Portland, Oregon, we used to go the "beach" in the summer to cool down. I was always so disappointed that the water was so blisteringly cold, it just wasn't possible to go for a dip despite how hot the temps were. Frostbite is a weird thing to show up with in the emergency room in summer! What a gorgeous big shot of the humongous Columbia!

It's 110 degrees outside right now, I'm thinking that river sounds pretty good to dip in right about now.

This is magnificent, Tara! Wow - that looks more like a lake than a river - and the water isn't brown! I can imagine how cold that water is.... Not a good thing for a swim!

Beautiful shot of the Columbia! I was trying to figure out by the mountains in the background exactly where this is on the river, but I'm stumped. Not even sure which direction we're looking here. My first guess was maybe on the Washington side, looking east, and maybe somewhere near Bingen or Lyle, but I'm really no sure. But I sure do like the shot! Excellent!
