Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Not impressed with his technique LOL!! Excellent, I have swarms of these in the yard at the moment, they can be a pest more so that the bog standard house fly.

Don't they always look like that ???? I hope she's on the pill. Super shot Andrea.

Cool shot Andrea :)

Fantastic observation and shot, yes she does look a bit grumpy maybe it was a first date and fancied only sharing some rotting carcass on a hot day with him.

I remember a father's explanation to his daughter after she saw two dogs mating. "The dog in the back hurt himself and the dog in the front is helping by carrying him on her back." So, maybe? This is one of your better captures of the 'filthy act'.

Wonderful and interesting capture You really should create that coffee-table book of all your photos of insects mating you'd probably make a mint

Beige! I think I'll paint the branch beige.

Yes, I saw immediately that she looks less than impressed, isn't it fun anthropomorphizing? Great capture!

LOL! He doesn't exactly look like Mr. Passion himself! :) Perhaps they were upset that their privacy was being invaded by a giant lens. "Oh great, Horace! We're going to end up on YouTube!" Kidding aside, a great capture here! Excellent work!

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

That's one way to catch them still and not flying away - when their minds are on "something else". Love the "frowns" on their faces, lol. Great shot, Andrea.

They should just 'get a room'!
danapommet
Great timing with this capture and they both look grumpy to me!

Yes (ala your description), she does look bored and grumpy. But her lover isn't exactly Cary Grant. It would've been great if you got her reading the Times---that's gotta hurt her lover. I see all your insect shots, and I am amazed at the positions and pov's you get with these small creatures. This one must take a lot of years of studying and photographing insects to be able to spot and shoot. It's a marvelous capture. You could title it, "you DONE yet???" Terrific eye to capture this.
