Description
Here is my Michaela's swim suit contest entry.
Now, I don't claim to be the best 3D artist or even a great one. Nor do I claim my girl is the most beautiful entered. But, Michaela didn't even place in the 95 chosen whereas there are a number that, to quote Rod, make you ask WTF?
I think the voting system makes it too easy for people to solicit votes - which I refuse to do. Even when my wife spoke of voting I told to vote for the one she liked the most and NOT vote for mine just because I am her husband.
Follow-up:
I left a comment at the Pageant page which expressed my sincere distaste for the voting system and the fact that I feel a number of very poor entries only made it to the top 95 because of vote solicitation while a number of really good ones were knocked out of contention.
I might add at this point that, when I entered I honestly never expected to win because there are SO MANY excellent artists here at Rendo. I expected to be knocked out of contention by some really GREAT artwork NOT some of the crap that made it to round two. I'm not saying that none of the ones that advanced deserved to. There are some really good ones that did. I am saying that many of those that advanced OVER some clearly better ones shouldn't have - especially those that didn't even fit the description of the pageant - "Sexy, Sophisticated, Talented."
In fact, it seems that very few really great artists actually entered. Perhaps it is because with all the experience they have gotten over the years they have learned the futility of it, knowing they don't really have a FAIR chance of winning unless they cheat by having friends, family and people of like mind politically vote for them.

I agree. I can see why #1 is first, but after that, you could pretty much pick them at random. Many winners are just not very good images, poorly lit, unimaginative poses. Member voting has got to go.

This is the first 3D art contest I have ever entered and as far as Renderosity goes, it is the last unless the type of voting changes. I hope Rendo gets the Miss Renderosity they deserve for this. I wonder how much their new memberships spiked during this month. Likely a lot since some people obviously had friends and family and politically like minded individuals come to vote for them.

Mike, I like your little lady a lot. Great shape, the bikini fits comfortably, nice pose and a wonderful setting. I personally didn't even look at the contest. I get very upset at the, shall we say the politics (LOL). But at least it got you to do another render! I don't like to mention this, but sometimes I see artwork here that gets way more hits and comments than it should (gasp!) What the hey, I'm glad my ego is small enough to deal with it (LOL). Have a good one, ole buddy!

Well, I thought your render was great...and I'm not just saying that as your wife! I saw some of the ones that placed and I shook my head. Yes, I guess like regular pageants there are politics involved...well, at least you gave people something nice to look at!

NICE... I especially like the one where's she appears to be crawling.... yeah, I'm into contests, love to compete, I entered with Jessie - lol... old model, a decade or so old, didn't stand a chance really, but the main computer has been down all year and haven't got the bucks to see if any of it is saved.... so, in stepped Jessie - lol... I was amazed at my finished product, but when you zoom around Jessie, there is no way she can compete with todays models... but to not make it into the top 95??? give me a freak'n break - lol.... there was a good turn out though, some good looking girls... the overall looks of the posted renders all looked pretty simple to me, you have some time into this, it should of gone on to round two.... I only noticed a couple artists I recognized that made it, so, it'll be interesting... I just hope the top 3 that renderosity likes are actual pieces from that artist - lol... imagine if they aren't and they have to use the same character - lol... this contest is going to be interesting to follow even though we're not invited to the second round - our knock outs got knocked out - lol.... ....FOOTBALL IS HERE! Once again.... so, Denver stoll Welker last year, now they have your best Defensive player - looks like you need to buy you some Bronco jerseys - lol.... I bet you can't wait to see the Pats kill the Jets, I can't stand Rex saying the Pats better look out - lol... if Michael Vick plays the way he is capable and Decker catches the way that they are capable well then maybe they have a chance... wait a minute... Rex is their Coach, what am I saying??? lol.... I think the Pats got weaker and their Division got stronger.... Denver should win another AFC West title... Pats are always great... Manning or Brady should be in the Superbowl this year, don't see another team stopping these two if they stay healthy. ...Love your entree man, I'm with you and Rod, we're in the WTF Club - lol

Yeah, I think mazzam nailed it... I agree that member voting has to go. It's sad that politics worms its way into something that should be fun. I think your entry is waaay better than a large percentage of the 95 that made it to round 2. And I'm with you, buddy - I refuse to solicit votes. Oh, well... I just got a message from the T.N.A. Girls - they're having a little 'consolation party,' and Michaela is invited! I hear Trish is baking a cake for the party, so it should be a real blow-out! Tell her to bring the flak jacket! LOL

Wow!!! I have to say she looks GREAT!!!!.... I haven't see who made it to the next round... but I think yours and RodS should have made it... My girls didn't quite make it past the preliminary rounds... maybe I'll show what happened, though I bet you can guess what... LOL to RodS comment, Trish is hard at work on a big cake... hope you're hungry!

Lovely image Mike she looks fabulous, I didn't know about the contest until wednesday and by then it was to late and there was way to many pages to look through saw some of the 95 entries that won and some it did wonder how, but who knows.. Personal I have never entered competitions as I am only really a beginner at the 3D art work and don't feel mine would really have a chance to come anywhere lol. Mind you in seeing some of them that I did see maybe I would have had a chance lol ;-).

superb sexy image Mike :) many of the tings you mention is why I avoid competitions....negative comments about THIS competition have been surfacing all through people's works....so with luck the organisers will re-think voting in the next competition or nor run any more competitions due to the angst it is causing

Very beautiful composing! Great work! Didn´t care about this contest. My curiosity forced me to look up the results. For sure your image deserved better than #96.

A really nice set of images. Sorry you didn't do better in the competition. The voting system was crap. Only one vote each is just no good. it should have been 3-5 each. I did well in the first part, but my second image didn't been make it into the 3rd round. I still completed the talent imag - it's on my own site, though I might show it here later. Regards.
