Fast Trains
we were burning one;
slow - she and I
she swatted-at imaginary flying bugs,
[over the fire] with swinging, judo-chop hand
head back now, as she hoists a deep-one
...with eye-bulging concentration,
she then exhales long, and says -
"An artist should never
have to explain their art."
We press fingers, on the pass, as I consider:
"...never have to explain their art." - Hummm.

I love the way your written work slides between realities and offers really sharp/strong images, while also imparting a very specific mood.; this piece has mood-galore and there is a wonderful, complex sense of emotion that I probably have to sit with for a while before I can even remotely begin to say what it actually is. It's something complex, I know that much, it's rather like a tapestry of emotions with strands blending, separating, and blending again, in different and surprising ways. This also strikes me in the way that really potent short stories strike me, and I like the way this darts between genres and forms: it is a poem, but when finished reading it (the first time) It felt like a complete piece of fiction. There were characters and their interactions seemed layered, brilliantly so, and there was something else lurking just beyond the edges of the piece, and I liked feeling that as well. As usual, this is really great stuff.
