Wonderful shot! How did you get them to sit still for you while you shot this? All our butties (which are few and far between) scarper the second they see any movement at all!

Never in London, they are painfully scarce now as is most species, even the humble cabbage white is thin on the ground, this is of course due to the destruction of their habitat by developers and over zealous weeding by gardeners, they hate the weeds, this I understand, but many a "Weed" is the butterflies food source for their caterpillars, some species use only a certain plant like the common blue that lays it's eggs on Plantago for instance.
