Watched the free preview videos for Philw's new Realism course over at infinite skills, can't wait to purchase the whole training and learn even more.
Just a quick test render, done inside of a cube primitive (which is why the walls look a bit splotchy) and done using only the glow channel for 2 primitives, a cube that you can see the edge of hovering in the air behind her shoulder and to the side, and a plane that is above her and pointed down towards her. Little bit of sss and a sprinkling of blurry reflections. Carrara's renderer can be very powerful and create very realistic effect, I think. :)

Excellent image !!

Yes i like Carrara render engine too, is amazing for props and scene rendering. But I think (and regret) that rendering results of human shader textures are more better from 3Delight or FireFly. On your render I see great work with lighting, but seems to me not realistic.

Very nice. if she had some reflection in the eyes it would help bring her to life even more - even if you just painted in a single pixel of white in each! I know, you should do it in the render, but at the end of the day, it's what the final image looks like that matters, no matter how you got there...

I really wrestled with doing just that on this one. Before I posed her, she was looking straight on to the camera and had really nice eye reflections from the eyesurface channel of the mesh light. In the pose though, the angle of the camera to the eyes doesn't hit the reflection angle, so no 'glint' appears. But I liked both the pose and the light placement, and in the end rather than add in an eye glint manually since it is supposed to be as close to 'real world' lighting as possible I decided to let it go. Maybe I should have moved the mesh light a little, to keep the glint in... :) Thanks for the kind words Phil, I'm dying to see the rest of the realism training!

Nicely done ! You just gotta play with lights and the shader settings of the skin. Take times to get there. Also based on lighting, the skin texture can change. In one render it will look great, in another not so great. So just gotta build / save a library of settings so that you can use them in combination whenever required. I used to use Carrara, it does have a better render engine than Daz Studio that I am currently using. But you can get pretty good renders from Daz Studio too. Check out my 'Miho - A Real Beauty' to see how real a skin texture can look.
