This aircraft, the Boeing P-26 A 'Peashooter' 33-123, came to the Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford from the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California. In this picture it taxied for take off and flew on Saturday. It taxied for take-off again on Sunday, but did not fly. It wasn't clear to us whether it was due to a mechanical or weather-related, since there were showers in the vicinity. The Peashooter was the first American all-metal production fighter aircraft and the first pursuit monoplane used by the United States Army Air Corps. designed and built by Boeing. The prototype first flew in 1932 and the type was still in use with the U.S. Army Air Corps as late as 1941 in the Philippines. A total of 151 were built at a unit cost of $14,009. This particular aircraft was sold to the Guatemalan Air Force on 11 May 1943 and flew as FAG 0672 until it was retired in 1957. Reason for non take on Sunday was the wind picking up and changing direction (cross wind).. Its way to valuable to risk a crash.. At least we saw it taxi huh Nice capture Sig! Rob
