Description

The Geysir geothermal area contains a dozen geysers. Unfortunately most of them were dormant but we did get to see one called Strokkur erupt several times. Most people pronounce the word Guy-Zer. The word comes from the Icelandic/Norse word for the sound made when something is about to explode and is pronounced Gay-Seer. The smallest of the geysers was Litli Geysir or Little Geyser. I include it only because it was here that I conducted my first class in photography. A young man had posed his lady love in front of the geyser but was having a problem getting a proper exposure for his snapshot. I gently suggested that he position her on the other side of the geyser so she was facing the sun. Having completed our first class in Photography 101 I took a picture of the two of them with his camera and went on my way.
