Description

I love birch trees, so when I discover the birch trees mega bundle at C3D, I just had to get it. This is a very nice addition to my collection of trees. I've created a forest using the birch trees and made 2 versions, I'm not sure which one I like better. I let you all decide.... this is version 2, enjoy!

Hmm have to say i prefer the first one the dark foliage on the tree on the right for me is too distracting sometimes Ive found with vue shadow areas can get a bit murky looking Its one reason Ive moved over to using vues photometric lighting I beleive you have vue 2014 i wonder if youve given the photometric lighting a try?

Thanks for your thought on this one. I've given photometric a brief try, but not extensive yet. I did run into a few problems with it. The rendering times is one them, it just takes longer to render, to long in my opinion. Second issue I've found that it doesn't play nice with a lot of older Vue materials and Solid Growth trees. It works better with TPF trees, but then I run into other issues, like even more longer rendering times. Another issues I've got and see a lot of people having with photometric is the harsh light areas it creates when something is lighted directly. I also am after a certain look with my images and some photometric destroys that. No more soft transitions, no more blend between realistic and picturesque look. I'm not after 100% realism, I'm smewhere in between :) Vue already takes long enough when it comes to rendering, too long at times, I really don't need even longer rendering times and then finding out I didn't get the look I prefered at all. I've rendered this scene in photometric..... it took 5 times longer to render then the posted image took to render and I'm not even sure if I want to upload the result, perhaps I will, This image wasn't even rendered at large resolution, only 1600x900. I normally render the final image at 3500x2500. With photometric that is going to take ages to finish....so, no thanks. For now, I'm not using photometric ;)

The vegetation is perfect!!! Wonderful landscape. Bryce is almost impossible to give such amount of vegetation because the project is too heavy. Congratulations.

Thanks, yes, Vue handles ecosystems a lot better then Bryce does, but if Bryce has an ecosystem like Vue does have, they would be very close.
