Normally when I meet a girl at a bar or club, I invite her back to my place. But Danielle was adamant I come home with her. "You'll love the view from my apartment." she said, "Really!" She was so pretty, so unbelievably pretty and sweet, there was no point in argueing. So we got in a cab and she gave the driver the address. In the back seat of the cab, it was dark. She slid across the seat to get close. I felt her warmth next to me. Her long beautiful hair brushed against me. I could smell her perfume and the pleasant fragrance of her hair. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and she snuggled in close and put her hand on my thigh. Better and better. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get damned lucky. When we got to her building we got out and I paid the cabbie. Then I looked up. Wow. She lived in a regular skyscraper. "What floor?" I asked. "43rd" she replied with a coyish smile. We walked through the front door into the lobby of the building. Wow again. This was really high end real estate. There was plush, stylish furniture. Large mirrors on the walls with beveled edges. Marble floor. There was a night guard in a uniform at a desk with monitors showing various parts of the building. The guard looked up at us "Evening Danielle" he said with a smile. "Evening Tom" she smiled back. As we passed holding hands Tom smiled and gave me a knowing look and a nod. There were several elevators and one immediately dinged and opened when Danielle pressed the "up" button. We got in. Danielle pushed the button for 40. That was as high as it went. "I thought you said you were on the 43rd floor?" I asked. She smiled and gently pushed me towards the corner with the flat of her hand. "We have to transfer on the 40th floor silly" she said. "You can't reach the upper floors from the ground floor". With me trapped in the corner she took my face between her hands and leaned up and kissed me. First soft, gentle, then more and more insistant. I responded and wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in close. The elevator rose and rose. When we got to the 40th floor, the elevator stopped. The doors opened. We moved apart. Danielle took my hand and led me out and to another elevator. This one required a card key to operate. She opened her purse, took out her card key,and flashed it past the reader. The elevator door opened. We got in. There were four buttons, one of which was for this floor, 40. The 43rd floor was the penthouse floor. She pressed the 43rd button, the door closed, and we went up. It didn't take long to go three floors. When we got out and walked down the hall, the doors were widely spaced. Large apartments up here. We got to her door and again she used her card key. There was a click. She pushed open the door. As we walked in, the lights came on automatically. What a place. Everything high end and contemporary and the place was huge. I was really glad now we hadn't gone back to my little apartment! She said, "Follow me, the best view is from my bedroom." She led the way down a hall, turning to look at me with those dazzling eyes. We walked in her room and the lights came on. The furnishings were expensive, contemporary, and amazing. But not as amazing as the view. The windows on either side of the bed were floor to ceiling with an incredible, incredible view of the city.
