Description
Captured 4/3/14, early in the am, somewhere around the neighborhood.
Just one of tons of broken sidewalk pavement photos I've taken over the years, but was too reticent to post.
Toodles.

Harry, this is a very cool capture for sure. Looks like this section need a whole lot of work.

it is fun to see the difference in sizes of cracks, certainly due to the difference in materials!!!

Beautiful texture!!!!!!!

I do like the texture very much, but it seems like quite a liability risk. Someone could easily take a header trying to navigate those sidewalk moguls! Great shot, Harry!

Well, I'm at nearly 2 hours (it's 2:39 AM as I start this comment, and I began at 12:42 AM), and this is only my 9th shot. Albeit, there was an RR glitch in between, but it wasn't that long...well sorry. I wanted to do twice as many, tonight; but I hope what I wrote will stand-in for all those I didn't write about. I'll end here because of the hour; but I can't think of a better place to end. You called this "just one of tons of broken sidewalk pavement photos I've taken over the years, but was too reticent to post": Man, no need to be reticent with images like this. This is masterful. As always, your crop brings out the angle-collisions---you even have an angle plunging down (the fence), to give another dimension to the shot. And the crop cuts off the lines, bringing the energies right into our laps. (Film directors cut off action shots to make the action suddenly 'drop in our laps'---because the action, being cut off, has no place else to go. Martin Scorsese does this magnificently---witness some scenes in "Goodfellas".) But crop and cut aside, the textures and light are terrific. Almost a mono shot---I know it isn't, but the light renders this an eerily grayish affair---it seems otherworldly. And the clarity of the cracks, and your signature early morning light, make this minimal shot sing, even blast. Everything is going for it: A terrific study of patterns in a piece of concrete. And you have 3 types of concrete: The type under the fence; the middle row of concrete, and the smoother left-hand side; and the crevices move from none (left) to big widely spaced (middle), to narrower-spaced (right). Terrific work Harry, on many levels. I'll be back; but anytime I'm here, it's a pleasure. And congratulations on 3000, and on 100 faire shots! Next time, I'll do more of them. Terrific work all around.
