Mystery Pod... no idea what this tree is, or what these "pods" are.

Ah, I see someone else said it might be a bud instead of a pod. Interesting. Hope someone will be able to identify it!

Peachtree gave us the solution... it is a Tulip Poplar (and this is one of its buds, not a pod).
