Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  Â

Lovely! I think it's a sea holly, they like it rather dry. Thankyou for that pic of an alligator trying to get into someone's porch! I'm glad our reptiles are all mainly under six inches.

I don't know what is its name, it is a very pretty plant, but I think it stings! Superb capture, Dana! Je ne connais pas son nom, c'est une très jolie plante, mais je pense qu'elle pique! Superbe photo, Dana!

Very cool photo, Dana! no clue as to what this plant really is

There are a few plants similar to those here, among the Alps... In Italy we call them "cardi" but I don't know their scientific name... I'm sure there are many species of them, some of them are edible... Great picture, I like how you got their blueish colour...

The leaves which is around the kind of flower looks like silver, and I've seen 'silver thistles' in the Alps. They look like these, but have a bigger heart and flower. This is a lovely photo and plant, Dana. (I guess the Latin name is: 'Carlina acaulis' ) Thank you for explaining about the alligator, and I'm curious about that close-up of its tooth. :)

I'm thinking this looks an awful lot like sea holly, or eryngium; try googling that to see what you find, Dana. Beautiful shot, I love these flowers!

no matter how beautiful a thistle flower is they are still a pain where ever they attach their self to your clothing. I still appreciate their beauty and keep my distance. superb capture

cool shots of these. You can eat them just cut off the sharp points and wash them.
