Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I've heard about this memorial and seen it in photographs before but it's great to see it through your lens and I think it's a very attractive work, neither boring or over the top or too sentimental....it's not overly complex and has dynamism. Nice work. For those over the pond or maybe do not know about this piece.. it's a memorial to Jon Egging who was a pilot with the elite red arrows team who sadly died in a freak accident during a show in Bournemouth when he blacked out due to excessive G-Force conditions and did not come around quick enough to pull out of a crash which sadly took his life. A very nice memorial to a lost member of this team of pilots who amaze us constantly on TV at events and at shows around the world.

I like this sculpture... very nicely shot, and the moon in there is especially nice. Lovely light.

You've framed it perfectly, and the background really sets it off well. Lovely shot!

An amazing sculpture and classy memorial, captured beautifully too I still see 3 legs of a giant squid at first sight though. It's just my perception, no disrespect intended at all. Sculpting the smoke trails is so difficult I suppose.

What an interesting sculpture & your framing & the soft, subtle lighting provides a very appealing setting for it...

I remember this and the story. England's version of our Blue Angels. An elegant design and well captured.
