Description

Tried to sneak up on this fellow at a nearby reservoir last week, but as soon as he saw me, he took off. Managed to just catch him taking off. Better in zoom. Thanks for your views and comments.

Excellent BIF Tex. They seem to be more tolerable of people here in the UK, I have on occasion got reasonably close. I expect it's because people feed them along with the other water birds?

Outstanding action shot & I'm sure more dramatic & exciting than any shot you could have gotten otherwise...

This heron, startled as it was when it sensed you, was successful in taking off gracefully with a straight as a string posture, in this wonderful inadvertent shot, Maria.

this past school year a Heron took off from a small creek near to me and I did not notice that it was so low. I hit my brakes but it's feet hit my windshield. until one is a couple of feet in front of you, it is hard to appreciate their true size. I stopped and looked around for it but it was flying and it came back over me. I told a neighbor that it was after like licensee tag!! outstanding capture.I always scare them away also

A Cracking Shot! Perfect timing and capture, well done! It isn't often these birds look graceful, more often they look prehistoric I think!

This is a fantastic action capture Maria. We are in NH right now taking care of my 96 & 98 year old In-Laws. Can't wait to get back to Florida and get out in the area swamps!
