Description
Swiftcurrent Lake is located in an area of east Glacier National Park called Many Glacier, which is as far east and north that we went in the park. This was taken on a very picturesque & easy loop trail we walked that goes all the way around the lake - under 3 miles total...
Please zoom.

That sounds like the ideal walk!

A great shot. I love the clouds over the snowy mountains with the lake below. All the time I spent in Glacier at Boy Scout camps I was constantly afraid of bears.

At sea level I'd go three flat miles happily, taking pictures all the way. At almost 5000 feet elevation? Nope. Maybe I could do a mile at that elevation. Slowly. At 9000 feet (like at Bryce) I can't even get out of the car. I'll enjoy this gorgeous view from the comfort of my current elevation of about 50 feet. :P This is just gorgeous. I love the colors of the lake.

I'm now at an hour, and unfortunately I have to stop for now. There are a whole slew of your images crying out to me, including your creative ones (like the locomotive works builder plate, where you added cracks, which I loved---it's an interaction with the object and you did it seamlessly). But for now, I'll end with a big sweeping view from your travels... For all the beauty here, it really breaks into three sections on ground, and then the sky. The water, the land on the right with its sun-drenched bushes and sand, and the mountains on the left. And they all unite in a big sweep, left then right, and in how each section morphs as it moves back. The water goes from a pinkish tone in front, to a deep blue-green tone against the back mountains. The mountains all lean to the left (so to speak) as if in harmony with the lines of the shot. And the sky is the other part, rich in deep blues and filled with clouds which harmonize with the snows. It's a beautiful sweeping capture, with several dominant hues. And the peaks---their lines, their 'thrust'---take us right out of the frame and into the rest of the world. Beautiful capture, Claude. And a great place to stop for now. I'll be back soon. It's always a pleasure to comment here---while I see everything everyday, actually commenting is a treat. Your eye is alive and bursting as ever.
