Description


This poster of an 1950s era airport was one of many for sale at the Flying Legends at Duxford. It shows a couple of Super Connies, a DC-3, and either a DC-4 or possibly a DC-6 with Pan Am markings. The stewardess (now called a flight attendant) is representative of the period - young, good-looking and wearing a nice, form-fitting uniform. Stewardesses could not be married to work at that time. I remember them when I commuted in early 1962 from Jackson Heights to Long Island City, Queens when flight crews were using the EL to McGuire Airport.
