Description

I think and hope. Captured back on 2/14/09, early morning, somewhere within the vast perimeter of the neighborhood. Please, someone, for me to avoid the embarrassment of floral ignorance, confirm that this plant is a member of the Hens and Chicks/Sempervivum family of succulents. The second shot is not an enlargement of the first, but a separate foto, mainly for those who refuse to ZOOM. For the rest, please ZOOM anyway. Adelis.

As far as I can tell, yes, that's a correct ID; I can't give you a specific name, but it's certainly in that family. Beautiful shots, Harry! It looks really happy and healthy!

The closer view on the second shot allows us to see more detail, and it gives a fine pairing with the first. Both are wonderful in zoom. Wonderful contrasts of light and shadow, of surface with water-drops and soil-stains, and of center with surrounding "flat" petals. By the last example, I mean the center as a conjoined area of petals, hugging each other; while the outer petals make a corona around that center. Wonderful light, and the bottom one---a closeup---feels like a sun, with that big corona flaring out in all directions. Wonderful shot of these beauties, Harry. I wouldn't know the species---though your commenters agree with you---but you captured their essence totally. A beautiful duo.
