Description
One can contemplate that time goes by too fast....Its been 16 years since I last visited Venice.....and such is my background, that my ancestral roots, are from one particular island, that was once occupied by Venetian forces.... but none the less, the island of Lemnos, has its own interesting ancient historical facts....an island that was heavily inhabited by the Proto-Etruscans, who also inhabited most of northern Asia Minor, and other islands in the northern Aegean, and territorities of modern northern Greece, and beyond... From the Proto-Etruscans (ancestors of the Greek Doric tribes) who sailed to the west.....eventually the Etruscan civilization arose, and thus one observes how interwoven Hellenic mythology and ancient Hellenic history are, in terms of facts and legends.... It may also make one wonder of how 'vague' and general the term Greece-Roman civilization is....when things are far more complicated, in terms of the evolution, and alliances, of the Proto-Etruscan settlers, throughout the Mediterranean sea, and with some emphasis on the term Magna Graecia.... From a humble artistic perspective, it would seem, that once Greece, was a parent, and Italy was a child, and against the test of time, it would appear, that Italy, in terms of population and monuments, has become the new parent, and Greece a new child.....time will tell, whether Greece, will become a parent again. ... (((( Should anyone do their own thorough research, and view an astronomical amount of documentaries concerning the islands of Greece, and the islands of Italy, and to observe the architectural structure of fortresses& churches& buildings&ports.....there are hardly any differences.....only Italy's northern cities have a relatively different architecture, in terms of their churches, as they landed up being heavily occupied and influenced by the Gothic architecture....such as the cathedral of Milan))))
