Description

A few weeks ago, Allie and I were at my Mother's house. As I walked through her bedroom, I heard a skittering sound. She explained that her younger cat had brought in a live chipmunk and turned it loose (his usual MO). The older cat had then chased the chipmunk into her bedroom where it took refuge under her dresser and was still there. Knowing we had to get it out before it tunneled through a wall or died somewhere we couldn't reach, we set about catching it. Here begins the tale of the Keystone Kops or a very close approximation. We closed all the doors in the bedroom and I got a towel thinking I could throw it over the little devil. We moved the dresser away from the wall and Mother prodded around with a broom until it ran out along the baseboard. I flung the towel - and missed. He ran all along the wall and got under the bed, Allie keeping track of his progress. Mother repositioned herself and poked under the bed. It retraced its route and I missed again - and again. This went on for 10 minutes before we realized we needed a plan B other than just giving it a name and adopting it. We opened the door to the sunroom and positioned Allie behind it. Mother and I dragged various and sundry items to form a chute from the dresser out the door. We propped open the storm door and managed to herd the chipmunk through the sunroom door and had Allie close it. Now we went through a modified version of prior events before finally getting him/her close enough to the outside door for it to get the hint and dart into the yard. By that time we were all exhausted. We will all be glad when Stubbs gets through his teenage stage. Never a dull moment. The doors in the room were made in Poser by me. Now see, this is why you need a video camera...... This would have been a riot to watch from the description. What a fun story, and I love how you've used your rendering skills to illustrate the story! Top notch, Terri, and a real lift for the evening!

LOL! This is a great re-creation of the event T. Yup, them cats can really create some issues sometimes. Reminds me of a cat we had many years ago who used to do the same thing. She would catch little critters alive and deliver them. Frogs, mice, chipmunks. Once, when I got home from somewhere I entered the house to find a large bowl upside-down in the middle of kitchen floor. My wife told me that Keesha (the cat) had brought in a present and she needed my help getting rid of it. It was a garter snake! I slipped a piece of card board under the bowl and picked up bowl, snake and all and brought it outside. Keesha followed. She wanted her toy back. I had lock her in the house to give the poor snake a chance to get away, LOL.
