Description
I've been working on this today & wanted to share this cool render of
Hinkypunk's Nova Character for V4.
The material setup on this really brings her to life in Poser. Love the glowy stuff on her.
I noticed someone in the forums bitching that it was poser only and it did not work in DazStudio.
The character works fine & Obviously the material setup from one app to another is entirely different!
So often people complain rather than seize an opportunity to learn how to use the software.
I decided to challenge myself, and get her materials setup to work in Daz Studio, so I could make a cool render...
I was also really curious to see if it could look as good as the poser mats.
Let me just say I rarely use Daz Studio, so I had to remember a few things :) lol
Only took me a few hours to figure out what I needed to do, and she turned out GREAT!
I changed one of the displacement maps, but the rest were good to go... just had to plug em in the right spots.
I've also been dying to use Stonemason's Sci-Fi Bedroom... expensive, but totally worth it!
The character and environment really work well together in this image. :)
I used the lights from the Bedroom set and added a spotlight to get Nova to pop.
Minimal postwork to enhance color and add a slight DOF.
I had a blast working on this, and I'm super pleased with the results.
Nice work on the character Hinky :)

Fantastic job! You've really brought out the beauty of this character. The POV gives it a nice touch.
blbarrett
Thanks GT, POV really makes the image interesting :)

I totally agree with you. Many people want to set up models, scenes and props and then render, expecting everything to look just like it does in the promo pics. Taking something from poser and trying to use it in DAZ with the same results is naïve at best. Your little bit of investigation and experimentation just proved that some extra work can and will pay off. Beautiful image and render!!!
blbarrett
Thanks Bro, I actually had more fun than normal because i got to make it mine in a way :) really appreciate the comment, glad you liked the art.

I love everything about this image. First of all, Stonemason. You know all about my little fangirl crush on SM. (h) Then theres Nova. You saw my struggles and frustrations with this character and having people say that stuff is soooooo irritating. My blood sweat and tears went into this product and I'm glad I've folks like you that can remind me why I make them in the first place. This is gorgeous and I actually kinda think she looks better rendered in DS than she did in poser. Really glad you liked working with her B :) This is perfect.
blbarrett
Thank Hinky :) She's a great character, and I had a good time working with her today. Glad you liked the image too.

Fantastic work on textures maps ! One more proof that ,with good ideas, it' s not only the software that is important ! You did a great job here, once again.
blbarrett
Thanks, Hinky did a great job developing her character, I'm pretty happy with the material setup I converted to DS.

nice work. there are things in poser I like and things DS can do, atm I am working in poser but one day may have to change, but not atm. again nice work
blbarrett
Thank You. I agree some things poser does great, and DS has some real strengths in the area of joints and displacement.

Excellent! Good to see you made it work in Daz Studio. Fiddling with settings and shaders is the only way to learn.
blbarrett
Yeah that adds victory to the fun of creating the art :)

I was thinking of getting this character - now I shall certainly do so! Nicely posed and great lighting.

She's wonderful in poser too. I also just uploaded my Daz Studio Material presets to the store... blue, green, orange, pink, purple and red. the Materials can also be applied to Genesis ( which is very cool )
