Description
Captured back on 10/20/08 on the grounds of the beautiful Santa Anita Race track, in beautiful Arcadia, California, and, despite the smog that day, with the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains in the background.
Back to my beloved auto shows after an overly long absence, which I've been neglecting because of so much other subject matter to post up. This show was special because it was held on cool luscious GRASS, rather than the hot shoe searing pavement these events are usually held on.
If interested, check the Internet for details on this automobile.
Ciao.

What a beautiful old classic! Shiny and well-loved, fins and all. Excellent captures, Harry, and I can almost feel that cool grass on my feet.

It's Dan Dare's spaceship....really like classic American motors and this is one of the classiest..Bet you don't get too many Yards Per Gallon out of this metal monster :-)

It's named after an animal, but it's more like a long, sleek space ship. (Dan Dare's spaceship---ala neiwil. I remember that comic character vaguely, from my childhood. Very vaguely, lol.) That first shot, Harry, is masterful. A tremendous shot, and great opening to this montage. I don't know car terms, but whatever they call the 'dip' of the side exterior, how far it goes down or how close it comes to the ground---this car has lowwwwwww dip. It's almost touching the ground. So with that side view, it's like a big magnificent space ship or boat, just resting there like royalty or like a sleeping lion. And the lineup with the cars behind it and with the line of bushes, etc---with the mountains in back---it's a big sweeping shot. And yes, it's nice to see these on GRASS, for a change. Your Studebaker, next day, is also on grass. Nice on the eyes, and nice on the photographer! The middle shot, of course, gives us a deeper view of the whole, and it shines. (Too bad you can't remove the sticker or the tent or the people, etc. I assume these are some of the frustrations for all good photographers at these shows. But the shot shines regardless.) Your bottom shot is a big beaming jewel---more of your fine shots of the front of these grand beasts, it's shimmering, fierce and unbending. Wonderful work. More from 2008, I see (and other past years): You have a lot of exciting pieces in your archives, and it's exciting to see you bring them out. Love this trio.
