Description

as the salmon pass through then ladders, they go by a series of windows, one of which is the counting window and the rest are for the visitors who view this beautiful fish going up river. In this image all you see are the fish. In other captures I've got the lamprey clinging to the windows. that's an entirely different theme and I will find a good (good under the circumstances) shot of the lamprey. the only postwork done on this image is adjusting the brightness and size.

Really fantastic work! I love the almost-abstract quality this has. I mean, I know what I'm looking at, but the color and the proportions of the fish, and the slight motion blur all change the context from something literal to something a bit more interpretive. It imparts a mood, as I see and feel it, and I love this piece for that. Now I'm curious to see a lamprey. I can't say that I want to live with them, but they're such...um...well...they're so prehistoric and jawless! Apparently they taste good, but there's something inherently disquieting about eating something that may become the basis of an as-yet-written alien race. I love the elegance of these fish, and the overall serenity this image makes me feel. I'm sure the fish aren't so serene, as they have urgent matters on their little fishy minds.

They seem to be quite large. And with that light I feel with being under water.

A great shot and a great fish Mike and that one at the back weighs 13.75 lbs. You might say "How do you know that" and my reply would be "All fish have scales". Lol.

Well, Jeff asked to see fish so I guess he is happy. He even had a good joke for it. I drove by the dam once but didn't stop. My loss. Cool image.

Mike, that is amazing that someone thought of installing windows so you could watch the fish.

A great shot of the salmon, Mike! Of course, now I'm getting hungry..... Salmon fillets on the grill - can't beat it! As hot as it is today, I wouldn't even need the grill.....

We're keeping an eye out for foul-play today, as there seems to be something fishy in the works. .And they're OFF! ...It's a tight race folks. Salmon-one has taken the inside track and is leading by a head... ... or possibly - "A tale of two fishies" Yeah, ok. Those were almost as bad as the two tents joke. - Nice capture.

It's too bad that the salmon no longer go back. As far as I know, they die after mating and migration from exhaustion. A very interesting topic and great photo.
