Description

Greetings Folks.. Well... No words can describe this... So I won't try.. Imagine the sound, the silence on the ground (and it was), the cheers as they passed by, and spontaneous applause! In front the Canadian Lancaster, now extended it tour here by nearly a month.. They expect up to 2 million people to have seen them fly.. The events at East Kirby, where 'Just Jane' the other ground running Lanc is, sold out months ago! By the way Canadian Aviation Fans, the RAF Museum has exchanged as part of this one of event, their Hawker Typhoon.. The only one in the world.. Check the site for where it is.. You won't ever see one otherwise! Also, U.K. fans, the CAA are thinking of 'changing the rules' slightly to allow Just Jane to finally become airworthy I hear.. Three! Imagine! Enjoy and ZOOM.. Sorry for angle, they crossed the area not lengthways as normal.. Rob

Oh, man. I bet the sound of those 8 Merlins really did your ears in! Good photo - rare to see planes from this angle. The clouds in the background really add to the photo - they stand out very nicely. You lucky fellow! Keep up the good work! More photos from that weekend? :-)

OMG, s stellar back to the mid 40's picture of the regal Lancs, with prop blur galore, on their way to the Third Reich for a night raid on Dusseldorf, mate. No wonder the masses below were cheering. I would have been applauding with one hand and saluting with the other.

Oh, what a shot, Rob! This is PERFECT for these beauties - against the clouds - just spectacular! I can only imagine the sound - it must have raised a few goose-bumps!

Green! I am green with envy. None the less, I'm glad they did this, and it's been so well-received. Adding Just Jane in the air would be over the top! The "Tiffie", last I heard, was at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Pity she's static only, and that I'm much too far away to justify the trip. Ah well, she'll do as a hostage until VR-A is returned safely :) It's darned hard to get "good" angles on a Lanc from the ground, that black underside does NOT help. However this works fine: lots of "action", and the two planes silhouetted against the clouds as they appear to climb ever higher.
