"She didn't know what they were expecting, but it wasn't her. There were severe limits to her being prim and proper. Some kind of Alice, she guessed they wanted � who would have �Eat me.� �Drink me.� engraved upon her, who would shrink and grow as was their whim, and wouldn't hesitate to tea party down to their content. This wasn't going to happen.
They were not what she had imagined either, impressions, images in chairs, the leftovers from past situations, drifting clouds upon seats. They wanted her to sit between them. She wouldn't do that. And,somehow it was better just to pour the tea on the floor and be done with it."
