Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
Grilled artichokes?
Step right up folks!
Dining at its most sumptuous, and sure to satisfy even the most discriminating palate.
Food, glorious food!
What wouldn't we give for
That extra bit more --
That's all that we live for
Why should we be fated to
Do nothing but brood
On food,
Magical food,
Wonderful food,
Marvelous food,
Fabulous food....
(From the 1968 movie, Oliver)
A ZOOM is recommended, especially for reading the mouthwatering menu in pic #2.
Toodles.

splendid captures...no faire without foods !!!

Love this selection of vendors and menu boards, Harry; the costumes of those who are so attired are fun! My problem with these eateries is that I have the hardest time trying to choose which one--I always want to try all of them! Maybe that's why so many of the fairegoers are so amply endowed, eh? I'll pass on the froglegs, though. My dad induced me to try them once, and that was enough for this lifetime. (Yes, they tasted like chicken.) Excellent montage of captures from the faire, very well done!

Harry, I'm at 2 hours and 20 minutes, and I have to go now. Unfortunate because there's a lot I want to do, including your terrific market series (from the Faire), more car shots incl an eye popping ornament, a beautiful reflection shot from yesterday, more portraiture, more flowers, a stunning Mexican shot from Sunday, etc. I'll have to get to them next time. But I end with this because it's so playful and such a potpourri of foods; and the pics have fine visual play (ie, forgetting about the menus, there are wall texture and hues, lots of textures, fine contrasts, etc.) The food---there's something very California about the selection! We have eclectic food in Chicago, but not like this. In the last shot, you have chai and hibiscus right alongside "bacon toffee bars". You don't see that alot in Chicago. FIrst, selling hibiscus anything is hard to come by here; and you'd never see it in the same menu with bacon toffee bars. (And what in the world are bacon toffee bars??? Is that a local delicacy? Because from where I come from, that's one whacked out sounding snack!) In number 2, you got baked artichokes right alongside bacon-mac-and-cheese: What a combination. It really fits the idea of a renaissance faire... The shots are very compelling in their own right. The top shot has deep browns over rich reds, and the textures are very pleasing and strong. The 2d shot is delightful with the woman looking at the man (in the booth) as if she's fed up (or just tired). (Good street shooting, again.) And a father and sun leaving the shot on the right. It's literally a 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant; and I love the blank elegance of the wall (with that calligraphic menu and it's odd combinations). I love the textures and stains on the wall too. Like it's been rained on... The 3d has more of that deep red, with a very satisfying sign; and the only "straight" lettering of the bunch. And the bottom---you go from darker pic to lighter pic, twice in this montage---is another visually arresting image, because of that heavy blue with purple trim; because of the yellow-tan signage (with red letters), and because of the two guys who are caught by something out of frame---with one playing a banjo (NOT a renaissance instrument, lol), and the other looking far away. The typically southerly trees are a nice contrast (considering this would originally be in England); and even the handicap sign is a wonderful punctuation mark/contrast with the rest. As visuals, the shots are delightful. And back to food---you even have some Cajun thrown in. (And I've never seen a "nutella". What in the world's a "nutella"?) A fey and wonderful combo, typical of the wild variety you get in this series. And you're at 115 shots, with no sign of stopping: Sheee-it, man, I haven't gotten 115 good shots in a month! I don't know how you did it, but it's been constant eye-candy. (RR should shut down for a day, when it's over.) Wonderful work as always, Harry. Oh---and again I forgot to fav! Ok, a fav for the whole bunch today. I'll do it right now!
