Description

I bought something in the Rendo sale at the weekend, and got a GrabBag bonus item as well. I wasn't too hopeful about this as it gets selected randomly and I usually seem to end up with something I can't really make much use of, but I was delighted to find that I had the Mimi character by Vyktohria - I like her characters a lot, and I hope you can see why in this portrait, done with Octane Render for Carrara. Thanks for looking - have a great week! Phil

I would like to rate this as your best portrait so far. For the following reasons: 1. The face skin and the hair are rendered masterfully with all the details, highlights and excellent lighting! 2. The eyes are very natural. In your previous renders eyes, although impressively good, somehow looked like gemstones rather than eyes. In this portrait eyes look like human eyes and I suggest that you keep this kind of 'conservative' eyes as a blueprint for your future portraits. 3. The teeth and the tongue have their natural colors. Again these are the colors that, imho, should be kept for photo-realistic renders. Too much white on the teeth may be OK for a commercial but not for a photo-real render. 4. But the best part, the cream of the cream, are the jewels and the jacket. The necklace and the earring are remarkably well-rendered. The ruby on the earring is conservatively shiny and that makes all its charm. The highlights on the earring and the necklace metals are spot on. The jacket, fabric is very real-looking and its slight, barely noticeable, DOF adds that finishing touch to an already remarkable work! To sum it all up, I think your 'conservative' approach in this portrait, be it texturing or lighting or highlighting, has truly paid-off. You have created a perfectly balanced and stunningly photo-realistic image!
