From the planet Gong....cool work Jim and Photoshop is definitely allowed, I couldn't live without it. Those noisy areas can be gotten rid of by lowering the Raystep Multiplier to 0.01, smooth them right out it will extend the render time some but this is a pretty fast Render anyway. Also here's something I forgot to mention, there is NO antialiasing in MB3D renders, this is the source of the Jaggies(it's not bad on Bulbs like this but on wide arcs and angled straights it can be a bitch) the only way to do AA in MB3D is to Render at 2 or 3 times the size of what you want the final Image to be and Reduce the size when saving the image. MB3D applies a Lanczos algorythm to the downsizing on save which contains either a 2x or 3x AA depending on whether you go 1:2 or 1:3 before saving the image. That or what I do is Render and save at 1:1 very large, postwork Jaggies on edges by hand in PS7 and use PS7 for Resizing which uses a BiCubic AA, I'm never done with any Fractal until it's been in Photoshop anyway and PS's Save for Web is the only way I can get near this 512k limit on size.
