Description

A 200mm telescopic shot, taken while hiding behind a tree, of an unsuspecting egret, no doubt pondering the meaning of life, captured 5/10/10, at beautiful Legg Lake in the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in not-so-beautiful South El Monte, California. Much, much better in ZOOM. This is the day which (and, unfortunately, one that coincides with a date that will live in infamy) commemorates the birth of the lovely and talented Denise - noted observer, photographer, botanist, naturalist, zoologist, and good friend; one of a kind, articulate, appreciative, dedicated, responsible, and thoughtful, with a good heart. Today is the big hurrah, so enjoy yourself, my dear. Cheerio.

Aww, thanks so much for this beautifully appropriate shot dedi, Harry! We don't have egrets here, so I'm jealous...they're so elegant! Marvelous capture, beautiful colour and light, and he has a hairdo to die for--looks kind of like Beethoven (or Lady Godiva?). Stunning!
