A sad episode, recent review of the cases concluded most cases would be attributed to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome today. Attempts to secure posthumous pardons were blocked by Prime Minister John Majors in the 90's, he said it would be an insult to those who died 'honourably'. However a Bill was passed in 2006 giving each of the 306 a posthumous pardon, though no court ruling nor the sentence was overturned. A very worthwhile reminder during this 100th anniversary year.....lest we forget.

it is very sad when the "defender" becomes as radical as the aggressor how many people has been killed simply because they wanted no part of killing

Great shot and an interesting bit of history. I didn't know about this statue, but I may go and have a look myself one day.
