A superbly exposed and composed shot! I can only guess what the structure is used for? It looks like a trebuchet guarding the bank!

You are right, it does look like an ancient catapult. Never thought of it that way, but it's a brilliant metaphor. As far as I know it's some kind of crane, belonging to an old dock.
