Description
I haven't done a portrait in a while. I thought I'd try again and see what I could get. I noticed the iris was too sharp. I went to investigate the eye structure as a result and learned there is nothing going to fix that. So I decided to upload the image instead of do it again with replacement eyes. Render time was about 4 hours.
Oh - an important new feature is subdivision. Usually, hair polygons show sharp bend angles. But with subdivision turned on, the hair came out much more realistically curvy.

Nice work. Subdivision on the hair is a good tip. Might have to try it to see if it irons out the kinks in my renders.

Awesome, very well done. The hair is spectacular to hold up so well in such an uber closeup. Nice work.
