Description

This shot was taken two weeks ago during our holiday to Newcastle. Taking pictures inside this beautiful Cathedral is forbidden so I sinned and had to make sure the flash was off !! If you scroll up and down quickly the rose window will do funny things to your eyes especially in zoom. I did manage a couple more.

This is something that really pisses me off, the LORD wants us in his house, and yet liberal minded pricks tell us we cant take pictures of HIS house?, not their decision I am afraid, that is the Lords decision, the no flash thing is just an excuse to lend weight to their petty minded rules. Dumb idiots.

Magnificent architecture. These places make for tremendous images - and I usually prefer to take the shots without flash. It seems to capture the atmosphere so much more effectively. :-)

Why on earth would photography be forbidden. I don't mean any offence to anyone, but here is my two cents worth: I was raised a catholic in an exclusive boys school.......and due partly to my treatment there by the brothers.......I am now a devout atheist and think a building like this is a colossal waste of money. Beautiful yes, but to me religion in general is ridiculous.

Go Ronnie lol. You can get permission as long as its not for commercial gain. Excellent

but it is by far easier to get forgiveness than to get permission! as for Andrew's comment, while not as vehement as his, I too, find organized religion something that I do not believe in.

Beautiful capture Jeff and without the flash on - you didn't sin at all. The rose window seemed to turn as I scrolled up and down!

My eyes have fallen out and into the rose window! An amazing handheld shot! A beautiful building I would enjoy visiting I'm sure if I could take photos anyway!

Such stunningly lovely architecture, I think we MUST take shots to share with those who don't visit these places. How else will they be able to appreciate it? When we were visiting Andrea and went to the priory at Christchurch we could purchase the rights to photograph the interior; cheap at a pound (or whatever it was they charged). Guess they need the money for maintenance, and I don't have a problem with that.

It's marvellous to discover this amazing depth in this very beautiful church and shot, Jeff. You did a great job here, without using the flash. Karel sees it, but I don't, the turning around of that round window; but also without rotating included, it's a very interesting capture, my friend.

I can't work out why so many places like this are anti photo, unless you pay, then its fine.. My local Cathedral, Peterborough charges £5 allow it.. (That was a couple of years ago).. As most cameras do not need flash anyway, the old, flash harms it excuse does not ring true anymore.. So, we have become cash cows.. You caught a fine sly shot here mate, well done on not getting thrown out! Rob
