Description

Been waiting over two years for them to stop painting this bridge and remove the scaffolding but this was the last train for this season. Will try again next year. Saltash 2014

I think Brunel would be delighted that over 150 years after it was built that there are still steam trains running over his Royal Albert bridge. Great Picture

Yep he certainly built things to last and I believe the bridge was originally a cream colour.

Even with the scaffolding, it is still a magnificent sight - especially with a steam train in the picture. Excellent image.

OMG! Thanks for this. I have a picture of this bridge in an old train magazine and that very door is open... you think someone would have noticed by now and closed it! The Thomas Viaduct of the B & O is not far from here. The experts predicted it would never stand on its own. Now that it's still carrying trains of sizes and weights never then imagined I'm pretty sure the official CSX signal for a crossing is "Neener Neener!" Yes, I think I can hear Brunel saying something much like "Neener neener!"

Still a beautiful shot though, regardless of the scaffolding. The trains steals the show.
