Description

Ricinus 'Zanzi Palm'. This variety of the Castor Oil plant has huge green leaves which come from really quite small seeds, which kaward sent me. See an unadulterated version Here

A striking compo of this unusual leaf! I like your postwork on this one, Andrea. It has a stained hammer finish glass look with the little panels glistening from something behind it. Glad to see you got plants out of the seeds and a photo. There's nothing more frustrating than a tray of seeds that never come through!

That would make a great design for an umbrella.

A fascinating shot, I like both versions, the original for the detail and the post worked version for it's abstract elements.

I want to comment on both RR versions of this---with the second one more postworked. So I'll start with this. The zoomed version plunges us right into the vortex of this huge leaf. Showing what these natural forms are like, closeup---big universes, enveloping, consuming. Your postwork articulates the hue-areas into colonies, and brings out the various gradations in green, blue-green, olive green, and yellow. (A little slate-blue thrown in, too.) And the off-center composition---with the center in the left half---lets the leaf flow out into space, on the right. A big in your face plunge into the closeup world of a leaf. Fine postwork---it enhances but doesn't interfere. Now to the other one...
