Description

Here's a shot of the shut-ins on the Black River in the Missouri Ozarks. "Shut-ins" is a term for a constriction or gorge in a river. Natural erosion from the flow of water carves the rock into these formations over millions of years. Here's a LINK to the park's website if you want to learn more. Probably not many tourists get this POV! LOL This was taken from my Phantom, of course. I flew it over the rocks a couple times, getting video. I'll have a compilation video after we get home. I'll post an image with a link to it when it's done. I had hoped to get some aerial footage and stills from Elephant Rocks State Park, but it was a little too gusty there due to its location on top of a hill. Johnson's Shut-ins were in a valley, so the wind wasn't a big factor there. I'll post a few photos from Elephant Rocks also - it's a really fascinating place. Tomorrow, we head for Mountain Home, Arkansas -lots of beautiful scenery there too. And hopefully a few more opportunities to get the Phantom in the air. Thanks for dropping by, and for all your comments and support!

Aw man, what a place! I'm sure you can imagine how much such an image makes my rock-balancing fingers itch... Great shot, nice use of your drone for the image, too!

This is another very cool presentation, Rod. I've heard about this place all my life, but never had the pleasure of viewing it before today.

Amazing what something as seemingly innocuous as water can do to hard rock. Marvelous photo.
