Description

This is one of two old engines that run on a short track of about 1/4 of a mile at the Beamish heritage village. This one actually broke down and was part way into the short ride with me on one of the front carriages. It suddenly stopped and would not go forward despite the many attempts, by the driver, so we became stuck until I suggested trying in in reverse which they did and it got us back to the start!!

really interesting shot Jeff. My computer is slowly grinding to a halt, for the last week its been taking so long to do anything, it took me twenty minutes to get your pic up. Who is there locally who can fix these things, any advice on this?

a fun story and a great photo. I like that so many things in this shot are so old and in need of repair.

Beautiful old engine. These were from simpler times and I suspect that it was fixed before it's next outing. :-)

A beautiful old steam engine. Could it be from the early 1800s? Surely it wasn't designed to transport people at the time, maybe that's why it stopped as a protest! Great shot, Jeff!
