Description

With water in the drinking glass, captured 1/18/11, early morning, off the tabletop in my living room. The light source was a window above the stairwell of my condo. Cheers.

Great shot, brilliant concept. I don't think I ever really paid attention to the shadow of printed glass before; I'll be looking more carefully from now on.

Oh, nicely done, Harry! This is a really cool shadow shot, with the element of sunlight sparkling in/through the water too. Well done!

A real sparkler Harry! Perfect setting for producing glorious shadows.

It almost feels like something on a Japanese screen, or on Oriental silk backing (as in Oriental scroll paintings). The shadow is wonderfully tanned and browned (a dry, sepia brown); and it unfolds like Oriental screen patterns, so different from the clear fruit patterns on the actual glass. Plus, the light inside the reflection---much stronger than it is in the glass itself!---gives 2 wonderful bursts or flares---one near the very top of the reflection (ie, the bottom of the glass), and one in the center of the reflection. Amazing how it flares out in a reflection! And the wood makes a fine frame around the "artwork". Plus you have a long dark shadow to the right of the glass (that is, the viewer's right), which is like an abstract "bar" added for balance. I like that you gave us the background in near black: It's the perfect foil for the bright glass and its reflections---making it feel even more Oriental, to my eye. This series is wonderful, Harry,
