Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Ralph doesn't look too sure about it. Has he converted to Islam ???

I don't think he would like getting up five time a day!

What a fashionista he is! The blanket suits him, I'll bet he likes it just fine for the warmth!

Ralph is just playing "super hero" in his special costume...I see his war wounds clearly in this very revealing portrait:)

Ralphie is a super model :o)))

I like them both, but the profile shot is "it" for me! Ralphie looks like a 1930s glamor girl. Wonderful!

This is hilarious, Andrea, but such a very great model. It would be most perfectly to be on the cover of a fashion magazine, uhhh, maybe a fashion magazine for dogs, what do you think? COOL!!!

Well I've been here about 45 minutes, and I'll stop for now and come back tomorrow. (It's sunday night where I am.) But I gotta end on another of your terrific dog photos. Ralph looks GREAT in this furry throw! Like he really doesn't want to be IN it. But he could also be a monk-dog, who's been disturbed from his meditations. (A Russian Orthodox monk. Don't ask why, he just looks it.) His nose really goes well with that throw---as do his eyes. (Do you say that to him? "Oh---R---that matches your nose!") Great shot, love the harsh light in his fur, and his look of, "ok, I'll let you do this, but I don't like it!") Really, his coloration goes very well with that throw! Love this shot! (We don't have that blanket trend here, btw---at least not where I live. The tendency here has been towards higher and more thin, tapered coats. So if you're in a long coat---a greatcoat, for men---you're an anachronism. I have two greatcoats, one a handmade Donegal tweed, the other a true greatcoat, with military detailing, which is beautiful. But you don't see it much. And in this city? With windchills from the arctic? We could use a blanket about now...Anyway, love this shot! And I'll be back for more in the morning...)
