Description
This is the House Of Seven Gables as it is known, located in Salem Massachusetts. There are seven gables or basically "points" on the roof. They did not allow photography inside. There is a :secret staircase" that anyone with a camera would die to get a shot of. We had to settle for the outside.
Its one of those places worth seeing once. We probably would not go back. Thank you and enjoy the weekend!

Your capture of this wonderful old house and piece of American history is very nice. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories. I've been to Salem several times and have investigated all those wonderful houses, etc. The Hawthorne house was such a treat, especially that "hidden" staircase and its role in the Underground Railroad. Don't remember if one could or couldn't photograph the house's interior when I visited (probably not), but I too have some great shots of the outside. Unfortunately, those photos aren't digital.

Such a pity when they won't let you take pictures inside. I can see not allowing flash pics, but just clicking the shutter shouldn't do any damage. :P Nice to see this old house!

Very cool shot... too bad you couldn't go inside.

really nice subject, pity about the inside, I have seen some photos of shingle-style house interiors and they are fabulous, though this one looks more 19th century than 18th, but there again, a secret stairs....
