Description

As pledging rituals go, Jessica believed it would be easy enough. Go alone. Find the overgrown grave with the wooden cross. Fix her bow tie to the marker proving both honour and bravery. Then, she would be one of them. But this was no silly sorority prank. Jessica was their sacrifice. An innocent tribute fulfilling an evil pact forged before the dawn of time. Scream Jessica, Scream
Growing up, I always dreaded going into book stores. Gothic horror was very much in vogue back then. Perhaps inspired by feature films like 'The Exorcist' and 'Rosemary's Baby', novel covers were conceived to inspire both fear and fascination within potential (adult) readers. And they did so with great graphic pennache. But for a small seven year old boy, there were nightmares to contend with more often than not. Instead of some innocent school girl, my spouse wonders why the terrible things in these stories do not befall people like the 'Senate Subcommittee for Military Appropriations' on an ill conceived fact finding junket. After all, they've probably got it coming. She makes a good point. Call Stephen King. Cheers everybody and thanks so much for stopping by. Sorry, still no nudity.

Wonderful scene and great narrative I agree with your wife - I've a few other groups that should be haunted - actually, the list is too long for her! just about any group that uses fear as a means to control their constituents as well as using miss-information deserves to be haunted forever and a day.

Well said. Terror is not leadership regardless of guile.

Clayton, I was right there with you as you were thinking back to visiting the bookstores as a boy. Turning my attention to the image let me say that you did an outstanding job. The details and lighting are superb and the dramatic feeling you created is perfect.

Agree with your spouse. Why not the Fords brothers, I ask??? Unfortunately, their horror movie never ends. Great scene and composition. Clever use of the Vue environment landscape. Love the title. A hint of Hammer Films perhaps.

The title was inspired more by those early 70's American films on the drive-in circuit. I used to see their posters printed in the Entertainment section of the Toronto Star every evening. They'd play at places like the 400, the 7&27 and the Number 5. The one that inspired me was called 'Let's Scare Jessica To Death'. The artwork can be found with a Google image search.
